22 Apr Day #112- April 22, 2018 – Don’t Judge The End Of the Chapter; Turn The Page.
Remember the job offer you were right on the brink of receiving but at the last minute, they gave it to someone else? You must have felt pretty devastated. To have to sit back and watch another person receive a blessing that you thought was supposed to have your name on it is pretty painful. I’ve had moment and situations like these and others happen to me too. And when it happens, I try to remind myself that if I did not get this promotion or job opportunity, then I’m probably being set up for something even better and even more significant. Sometimes, it is much easier to tell myself this than other times. But the truth is that when I think back over my life, that is exactly what happened. Being set up for something better does not always mean that another promotional opportunity is coming your way. Being set up for something better may even mean that a mindset shift is coming. This may be the moment that you decide that staying on this job isn’t the best decision for you and you may consider applying for a position at another company, only to discover that at the other company, they think that you should not just work in this role, but you should be a manager of people doing this role. The moral of this note today is that we should not spend a lot of time judging the ending of one chapter, when we do not know what outcome the next chapter holds, or the chapter after that—or the chapter after that! People on the outside looking in may think that you have failed. Even you may think that you have failed. But this setback may only be preparing you for the best shift you have seen yet in your life. So the next time something like this happens, just keep reading. The next chapter gets so much better!
