Day 140 | Some Targets Are Only Meant To Be Aimed At

Day 140 | Some Targets Are Only Meant To Be Aimed At

“Some targets are only meant to be aimed at.” I enjoy this Bruce Lee quote because it reminds me to have a goal, to aim for it, and to ALSO be open to the path that Life has in store for me. There is a lesson in the journey. Each of us are on our own paths. We oftentimes make a goal and drive so hard for that one goal that we miss the many blessed detours and exits that were trying to help us course correct and arrive at our goal in a different way and sometimes with a different mindset and perspective. You may want or have wanted a career as an NBA basketball player; you may have aimed at that goal. But maybe Life wanted you to be the coach who prepares the next generation of NBA basketball players simply because of the one gift given to you—and no one else. So, yes, we can always have goals. It is great to have a vision over our own life. But it is also just as important to leave emotional space for the evolution of your goal. Leave space for the detours and exits. Be open to forgiving Life when it looks different than your expectations. There’s a plan for you. I promise. If that were not true, you would not be here. But while you are spending your time thinking about how to reach your goals, God is thinking about how to use you and to make the most impact out of your life so that you clear a way for others to reach their goals—no matter what they are. It’s just something to think about on this beautiful Sunday morning. So, whoever you are and wherever you are—keep your head up.
