Day 153 | How To Release Pain You Never Knew You Were Holding?

Day 153 | How To Release Pain You Never Knew You Were Holding?

How do you release, heal, or let go of pain that you never knew you were holding on to in the first place? It is the type of pain that has been around for so long that it feels like a part of who you are. Somewhere along the way, you learned to live with this chronic (i.e.., long-lasting) pain. You learned to work around it and adjust for it and now it feels normal. It has been tolerated for so long that it is almost nonexistent. Well, it is nonexistent until it manifests in other ways and in other areas of your life and begins to impair or limit you. So back to my initial question. How do you let pain (that you are unaware of) go so that you are no longer impaired at work or in life? Answer: you must become more present in your life and be aware of your own triggers. When something happens that triggers a negative emotion within you, pay attention to it. Think of the trigger as an opportunity. It does not matter if it is your boss, your best friend, your spouse or your child that triggers this emotion. And I promise you, that even though you THINK this trigger has something to do with your boss, friend, spouse or child, it does not. Triggers are God’s way of reminding you that there is unhealed pain that you’ve learned to live with, tolerate, or work around and now—in this situation—this pain is impairing you. Triggers are developed from your past, felt in your present, and (without healing) stifle your future. To have a great career and life, learn to clear emotional blocks. To clear emotional blocks, learn to heal triggers. To heal triggers, be present enough to recognize when they occur and from where they truly originate. Then make peace with THAT historic moment. And find gratitude for the person, place, or thing that created this opportunity for you to heal. They are only helping you to get closer to your highest potential.
