Day 223 | Find Gratitude In Each Moment

Day 223 | Find Gratitude In Each Moment

An explosion woke me up this morning at 2:00 am (on the dot). I thought I dreamed it at first. But it wasn’t a dream. So, I laid there for a moment while thinking about what the noise could have been. Are my children awake/okay, was it my aunt downstairs in the kitchen, could something have fallen off of the wall in the middle of the night? So, I got up, threw on my robe and walked into my kid’s room to find them sound asleep. As I look down the stairs, I’m met by my aunt at the foot of the staircase. “You heard that too,” she said. So, I wasn’t dreaming. And then we found the origin of the noise. A home exploded in the neighborhood. This home was practically in the  backyard. The explosion was massive enough to shake the house and you could feel the heat the moment the door was opened. So, we went outside to get a better view of it and were met by firefighters, ambulances, and police officers all racing to the scene. It was massive. It was scary. It was real. To us, the observers, our hearts flooded with thoughts of the family inside. Are they okay? Did they get out? To the family within the house, their lives have been forever impacted by this day. See, life has an amazing way of reminding us that each moment is a miracle. No moment is promised. Don’t take “time” for granted. We must continue to find gratitude and appreciation for all there is, because the next moment it could change. Keep this family in your prayers for whatever outcome they may face this morning. I know that we will.
