Day #9: January 9, 2018 – Self care Means…

Care enough for yourself to stand up for you, to protect you, and to speak for you. Demonstrate (for your own benefit) that you are worthy to care about. Sometimes self-care means saying, “me first.” So how do you say, “me first,” on the job? Me first means thinking—TODAY—about what your on-the-job needs are. Is it a less toxic work environment? Is it more work/life balance? Is it recognition for your efforts? Is it a raise? Whatever your needs are, self-care in the workplace means sharing those needs with someone who has the authority to meet them. People can only help you when they know there is a problem. If they never know—they can never help. Talk to someone today about your on-the-job needs.

#BlackCareersMatter
Sincerely, Jenn
