03 Apr Day #93 *April, 03, 2018* – Relax, You Are Not Hurt; Just Stand Up
My sons, Austin (2 years old) and Aiden (1 year old) are in a space now where they respond with emotion based on what they believe was “supposed” to hurt, but not based on what actually hurts. For instance, Aiden may trip and fall on the carpet. He is obviously not hurting. But he will look up at me with tears forming in his eyes. I will say, “Aiden, relax, you are not hurt; just stand up again.” And in that moment, as if my message spoke away his imaginary pain, he gets back up and moves on. I know this may sound funny and futile, but we, as adults, sometimes need someone to speak away our pain too and say, “Relax, you are not hurt; just stand up again.” Things happen—rejection, disappointments, failure—and we fall down. When we aren’t careful, we can start to feel broken. We may not even be hurting until we add our judgement to the situation. Don’t give more power to an outcome than it deserves! Don’t welcome the unnecessary pain, don’t give up, don’t go backward, don’t stop moving toward your dream. All you have to do in this moment is just stand up again. Relax. There’s nothing wrong. Just keep going.
Sending you Love & Light,
